February 2022 talks between Bislimi and Petkovic
22-25 February 2022
On 22 February 2022, the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue, Miroslav Lajčák disclosed that “intense discussions” were made in Brussels among the chief negotiators of the dialogue, Besnik Bislimi, First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo and Petar Petkovic, the Director of the Office for Kosovo of the Government of Serbia. The meeting was previously announced by the Lead Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy of the EU, Peter Stano. In his announcement following a question from Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty, Stano disclosed that this meeting will serve to review the past agreements made so far and the upcoming issues in regards to the normalization of relations between the two parties.
The next day, Lajcak through Twitter announced that both representatives of Serbia and Kosovo are “close to reaching an agreement on some documents”. The EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue then highlighted that the procedure is very delicate and the dialogue will continue despite the 11 hours that were spent to reach a possible consensus. The meeting was perceived as one of a technical nature and details about the agreements are yet to be given.
