The First Meeting of Experts for the Implementation of the IBM Agreement

On 11 October 2012, the first working meeting in the context of the enforcement of the agreement on Integrated Border Management (IBM) with the mediation of the European Union, was held in Brussels between the experts of the Republic of Kosovo, Serbia and the EU.

Among other things, at this meeting, they discussed the methodology of implementation of IBM’s agreement and the Technical Protocol. Duties and responsibilities of both countries, Kosovo and Serbia on this interstate agreement were defined which Serbia signed after many delays. At this meeting, they also discussed other issues related to the implementation of this Agreement and that are in compliance with European standards. The Kosovar party vowed to intensify the implementation of this agreement and demanded by the EU as a mediator to increase efforts in this direction. The Delegation of the Republic of Kosovo experts headed by Fisnik Rexhepi – Political Advisor and National Coordinator for IBM’s implementation by the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Qemajl Marmullakaj from the Prime Minister’s Office, Dren Zeka – Senior Political Advisor to Deputy Prime Minister Edita Tahiri from the Office of Technical dialogue, Naim Huruglica – Director of Kosovo Customs, Colonel Shaban Guda – Assistant Director of the Border Police, Valdet Gjinovci – Chief Executive Officer of Food and Veterinary Agency and Murat Meha – Chief Executive of the Kosovo Cadastral Agency.
